Tick every row you’ve verified for one location. The score above comes from the 18 core checks — the advanced and roadmap rows are yours to verify by hand and are not scored.

Core place card The place-card essentials Apple documents for every location, scored by severity. Nothing here is automated — tick only what you verified by hand in Apple Business.

Business name & contact - The display name matches your storefront or website Critical Apple requires the display name to match the name on the storefront or website, with no descriptions, no ® © ™ symbols, and no city-suffix such as "Smith’s Restaurant (Fresno, CA)" to distinguish locations. Apple can rename your location if it does not comply.
- An "about" description is written Info The optional about field tells Apple and customers what the location is known for. It must comply with Apple’s photo and text standards.
- The phone number includes the country code Warning Apple requires the phone number to match your official website and contain the country code. Phone extensions are not supported.
- The website links to the specific location page Warning Apple recommends linking to the specific location URL on your website rather than the homepage, and it cannot be a third-party website. A Facebook, Instagram or TikTok page is allowed.
- A linked app is your official app Info If an app is linked on the place card, it must be your brand’s official app, correctly formatted, and available in the country or region where the brand operates.
Address & map pin - The address is the one officially listed on your website Critical Apple requires the address to be the one officially listed on your website and the one customers use to travel to you — a mismatch is a critical trust gap on the place card.
- The map pin is centred on the building Critical Apple requires latitude and longitude to sit on top of the building, centred over the location — not on the footpath, the road, the intersection, or the car-park entrance.
Hours & status - Normal hours are set Critical Normal hours are displayed on the place card so customers know when you are open. A location without hours reads as unmaintained.
- Hours match your official website Warning Apple says hours on the place card should match the hours published on your official website whenever possible — drift between the two confuses customers.
- Special hours cover known closures and holidays Warning Apple supports temporary hours for holiday closures, maintenance and adjusted schedules, and service hours for special services. Stale special hours surface on the place card as wrong information.
- The open/closed status is accurate Critical The status field tells customers whether the location is currently open or closed. Customers can report a wrong status directly from the place card, and Apple may edit it.
Apple Maps category - Exactly one primary category is selected Critical Apple requires one and only one primary category to represent the brand as a point of interest — even if two functions feel equally important, only one may be primary.
- The primary category is as specific as possible Warning Apple’s guidance is to be as specific as possible — Indian Supermarket over Supermarket, Vegan Restaurant over Restaurant. Specific categories place the pin’s icon and match how customers search in Apple Maps.
- Up to four additional categories are set Info Beyond the primary category, Apple lets you select up to four optional categories for additional functions — a supermarket that is also a bakery and a café can list both.
- The category was re-checked after Apple’s update Info Apple recently increased the number of top-level categories and sub-categories. Apple asks businesses to re-check their categories because existing selections may have changed or a better fit now exists.
Photos & logo - A brand logo is uploaded and approved Warning The logo and cover photo together form the place-card header customers see in Maps and Apple Wallet. Apple reviews uploaded logos against its standards before they appear.
- A cover photo is set Warning Each location can show a unique cover photo (with the same logo) so customers see the location’s surroundings. Apple reviews cover photos before they display.
- Location photos are in the From the Business album Warning Approved photos appear in a From the Business album on the place card. Apple suggests exterior views, services, products and ambiance, with captions and alt text — photos must be HEIF, JPEG or PNG and are reviewed before approval.

Advanced & engagement Features Apple offers beyond the core place card — worth verifying by hand for a complete picture. These rows are not scored.

Showcases - A showcase is live on the place card A showcase is a module on the place card for new items, deals, sales or other promotional content with a call to action. Showcases are time-limited (for example, 30 days), so they need refreshing to stay live.
- Showcase photos meet Apple’s requirements Showcase photos must be 1:1 aspect ratio (minimum 492 x 492 px) and correspond to the showcase title and body. Uploaded photos are reviewed by Apple before they appear.
- Showcase review status is checked Apple reviews showcases before they appear on the place card. A showcase stuck in review (or rejected) never reaches customers.
Action links - Action links fit the category Actions put direct customer experiences on the place card — buttons such as Order, Reserve, Menu, Waitlist, Pickup or Delivery, depending on the category. A restaurant, for example, can link menu, reserve, waitlist, pickup and delivery.
- Actions are approved by Apple Organisations require Apple’s approval before an Action appears for customers — the process can take up to three working days. An Action URL cannot be reused across action types.
- A Primary Action is chosen The Primary Action appears as the button next to the website button at the top of the place card. The first Action you create automatically becomes the Primary Action.
Good to Know attributes - Good to Know attributes are set Good to Know attributes list amenities, facilities and experiences — accepts credit cards and contactless, parking, gender-neutral toilets, EV charging, casual ambiance and more. They appear as a list of facts with glyphs on the place card.
- Attributes match reality A customer who arrives for EV charging that does not exist will report the place card. Attributes are only useful while they are true.
Insights - Insights are reviewed for this location Apple Business offers insights for a single location and Insights location reports for multiple locations — the only performance data Apple gives brands about their place cards.
Listing health - Apple’s suggested edits are accepted or contested Customers can report issues from the place card, and Apple reviews those reports and edits the location — you get an email when it changes name, status or hours. Locations show an Updates Available alert with Looks Good or View Details (Edit) to contest.
- Customer-reported issues are watched A place card that states a location is open when it is closed invites customer reports, and Apple acts on them. Unresolved reports become edits Apple makes for you.

PlaceOptimizer roadmap Planned PlaceOptimizer support for Apple listings — nothing here is live today. PlaceOptimizer audits and manages Google Business Profiles; Apple support is a roadmap item (V2).

Planned for Apple listings - Automated checks against live Apple listings The audit engine covers Google Business Profiles today. Automated checks that read a real Apple listing would need Apple Business API access and are planned, not built.
- Apple third-party partner registration Managing Apple listings for clients requires registering as an Apple-approved third-party partner or agency — a gated process. Invarya is not an approved Apple partner today, so we do not manage Apple listings for clients.
- One health score across Google and Apple Longer-term, a single cross-platform view would compare each location’s Google Business Profile and Apple place card side by side. This depends on the two items above.

### Where these checks come from
Every category is built from Apple’s own documentation. Apple folded Apple Business Connect into Apple Business — the pages below are the current source of truth.

- Configure location attributes in Apple Business The canonical place-card page: display name, about, address and coordinates, hours (normal + special), phone, website, app link, category, Good to Know attributes and status.
- Add, edit or delete photos in Apple Business Photo requirements (format, sizes), the From the Business album, captions and alt text, and Apple review of every upload.
- About the cover photo in Apple Business The cover photo that makes up the place-card header alongside the logo.
- About Actions in Apple Business Action links on the place card — Order, Reserve, Menu, Waitlist, Pickup, Delivery — plus the Primary Action and Apple approval (up to 3 working days).
- Create your first showcase in Apple Business Showcases: the time-limited promotional module on the place card with a call to action.
- Maintain location information accuracy with Apple Business Apple may edit a place card (name, status, hours) from customer reports; the Updates Available workflow lets you accept or contest the changes.
- Use insights for a single location in Apple Business Apple Business insights: per-location performance data and multi-location reports.
- Apple Business Connect is now Apple Business Apple has merged Apple Business Connect into Apple Business — the current name of the product this checklist covers.

## How to run the Apple checklist yourself
Work through the Apple place-card checklist for one location by hand — sign in to Apple Business (formerly Apple Business Connect), tick off each category you verify, and see how the misses turn into one score.

- 1
### Open the checklist for one location
Pick a single Apple Business location and work through the interactive checklist above, ticking each item off as you verify it in Apple Business — the tick state is per location and resets on refresh.
- 2
### Work through the core place-card categories
Cover the five scored categories in order: business name and contact, address and map pin, hours and status, the Apple Maps category, and photos and logo.
- 3
### Verify the advanced features by hand
Check Showcases, Action links, Good to Know attributes, Insights and listing health yourself — these rows are not scored, so they only count when you confirm them as part of a complete picture.
- 4
### Weight each miss by severity
Note the severity of every gap: a critical issue like a wrong address or misplaced pin costs the most, a warning like a missing logo costs less, and an informational note the least.
- 5
### Turn the misses into one score
Start the location at 100, subtract for every unconfirmed check by severity, and fix the highest-impact gaps first — the result is one health score and a ranked fix list.

FAQ
## Frequently asked questions
- ### What does an Apple Business Connect audit check?
The checklist covers the Apple place card: business name and contact, address and map pin, hours and open/closed status, the Apple Maps category, and photos and logo — plus the advanced features (Showcases, Action links, Good to Know attributes, Insights). Every row is a self-assessment tick based on Apple’s own documentation, which the tool cites on the page.
- ### Does this tool scan my live Apple listing?
No. This is a self-assessment: you tick each check after verifying it yourself in Apple Business, and the score comes only from your ticks. Nothing on this page reads or scans your live listing — PlaceOptimizer has no Apple listing integration today.
- ### How is my health score calculated?
The score starts at 100 and loses points for every core check you could not confirm — a critical gap like a wrong address costs 15 points, a warning 7, and an informational note 2. It reflects what you verified, so it is a PlaceOptimizer diagnostic score, not an Apple ranking or review.
- ### Does PlaceOptimizer manage Apple listings?
Not yet. PlaceOptimizer audits and manages Google Business Profiles today. Automated checks against live Apple listings and third-party partner registration are on the roadmap — we do not claim to manage Apple listings for clients at this time.
- ### Apple Business Connect or Apple Business?
Apple has folded Apple Business Connect into Apple Business, its combined offering for businesses. The checklist maps to the location tools in both — the place-card features are the same, and Apple’s current documentation is cited throughout this tool.
